How to Serve Yogurt

Burlap Your Yogurt

I love offering yogurt and granola and fruit as a breakfast option. The problem is how to serve it?
When I thought of doing this, I actually started giggling out loud.
So easy, simple and why had I not thought of this before?
It made it so much easier to transport and are you ready for this, easier to clean, no bowl.
Now I'm really smiling.

Fall Breakfast Buffet

Why this didn't come to me sooner, after all,
I have been having an affinity for this material for a while.
Well, the affinity has grown, just you wait and see.
For now,
I covered the yogurt container with burlap and ribbon.
I know! It's cute, isn't it?
What do you think?

Are your Gourds dressed for Fall?

Well, the Fall Mantle is almost done completed, I'm running late.
Not an unusual pattern in my life.
Never enough time and committed to too many things.
Can you relate?

In the meantime,
I decided to add some sparkle, who doesn't need this in their life?
I popped open a little gold craft paint and went to town on my $3 bag of gourds.

Look at how much sweeter a little paint can make these!
Easy-breezy and less than 5 minutes, took me longer to take the pictures and write the post.
Seriously.

I will be sharing the full mantle with you soon!
How are you adding sparkle to your mantle and day?

Share the Day!

Sharing with these lovely parties.

Fall Mantle Art

Time to change the mantle, I wasn't sure what my plan was yet.
I did know I wanted another paint chip art piece.
Why? Well...
they are affordable, they feel creative and I like mixing more sophisticated pieces,
with those that are more primitive.

Liebster

Liebster Award

This week I was given the Liebster award by

The Liebster award is a blogger to blogger award given to new bloggers, or bloggers with less than 200 readers. There are no judges or special prizes, just someone saying, "We see You," and, "Keep up the good work."
If you receive the award, you need to answer the 11 questions assigned to you and then you can create 11 questions of your own and nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 readers to receive the Liebster award. It's also great if you could follow the blogs that you nominate!

"Liebster" means dearest in German.

Here are the questions I answered

1.  What is your favorite thing to blog about?

Sharing the day, whether it's a recipe, diy, or finding God in unexpected ways.

2. If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
I would love to stand in every continent. So far, I've gotten 3/7. I'm almost halfway there.
3. What is your favorite season, why?
Whatever season we are in presently and the anticipation of the season ahead.

4. What blog inspired you to blog, or inspires you now as a blogger?
There are several special blogs,
Praying with my Feet, Evlogia (now can be found at Seamless) and Jennifer Rizzo
Each of these women are strong in their own ways, write from the heart in an effortless manner, have made me smile, have made me think and added to beauty in the world and on the internet.

5The Beach or the Mountains?

Mountains, BIG ONES!

6. If all jobs paid the same, which job would you choose to do?

That is a million dollar question. Something I would get to talk alot, laugh alot, and be creative with children around or adults. I missed my calling, Art Teacher.

7. What is your favorite type of food?
Comfort

8. What is one of your pet peeves?
Lack of trying to do your best.

9. Are you more of an early bird or night owl?
Used to be night owl, have become early bird.

10. What are the two most important things to you?
Easy, Faith and Family

11. What is something you have never done, but would like to try?
Flambe something?

And here are the rules for accepting the Liebster Award, for all the fabulous blogs I've chosen...
1} You must link back to the person who nominated you.
2} You must answer the 11 questions given to you by your nominator.
3} You must pick 11 bloggers, each with under 200 subscribers, to be nominated for the award.
4} You must come up with 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
5} You must go their blogs and notify them of their nomination.
6} This is not a rule...but I think it would be great to follow the blogs that you nominate! After all, we are all trying to grow our blogs, and this is a great encouragement to new bloggers (myself included)!!!

Here are their Questions to answer:
1. Do you prefer Mac or PC?
2. Cat, Dog or Fish? What's your favorite animal?
3. What three blogs have influenced you?
4. Which of your posts, surprised you the most, with how it was received once posted?
5. Favorite music you listened to 10 years ago, and now?
6. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
7. What was your favorite story when you were a kid?
8. What song would you choose as your "theme song?"
9. If they made a movie of your life, who would you choose to play you?
10. What food could you eat every day without ever getting tired of it?
11. What is the best movie of all time?

Thanks again to Sarah from Church Street Designs for nominating me!

How to Paint a Bench Ombre-Style

I picked up this bench last summer at a yard sale.
End of the day and $20, yippee!
I even pinned an inspiration.
I had great plans, I wanted to ombre it!

It sat for a long, long time on our very sad front porch,
looking sorely out of place.
So many things had to take priority over it.
But finally, huge big grin.
I had 2 hours, yes, I said it, 2 hours to myself!
I had 3 spray cans and 2 hours.
I washed it, got all the little spider babies out of it.(ick)
Sanded it a bit, I admit, should of sanded it more.
But I couldn't wait to get to the fun part.

I sprayed the white parts first, back top and bottom.
Using primer/spray mix, worked great! Easy-peasy.
Then next color, mid-blue, on the middle sections.

Last the dark blue on front middle.
To get more of the effect I would go over the transition parts with each color,
while lifting the spray can away from the piece, while spraying.
I wanted the darkest section at the very front.
Finished it with spray sealer, after it dried in the sun.
Turned out exactly as I pictured it!
Not often that happens, at least in my world.

I had a little left in the cans and decided to paint this cute pot to go with it.
Also moved some pillows from indoor to outdoor.
The pillows were sprayed with outdoor fabric protector.
Pretty, pretty, happy, happy.
Fall here we come!
How is your front porch starting to "fall" together?

Don't you love how the color deepens and changes with the light.
Smiling wide, baby, Smiling wide.

Laughing with Pinterest

Hey there, got your morning coffee? Got kids? Are they on the bus? or at least occupied?
Just sharing some posts seen on Pinterest, because they made me laugh, and laugh hard.
Maybe you follow me or maybe you don't on Pinterest
Either way is ok.

The other night, my husband ran into the room I was sitting, "are you ok, what happened?",
I was laughing so hard I was crying. It was silly but at that moment in time, it just hit the right chord.
Does this ever happen to you? What makes you laugh?

Here is what had struck me.
Cat shaming. I know it's not new? I know it's cats? But, look at these two on the top right corner.
Is it the expression? Is it what they did? I'm not sure?
For those who don't like cats, there's dog shaming, equally hysterical.
I think for the dogs, because they actually look ashamed!
If you do come visit my Pinterest, for more laughs, look at Just for Fun and For the Dogs.

Nativity of the Theotokos

Your birth, O Theotokos,
brought joy to the whole world,
for from you dawned the sun of righteousness,
 Christ our God.
Freeing us from the curse, He gave us His blessings.
Abolishing death, He granted us eternal life.

This picture is from a trip we took to the
 Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery,
 in Saxonburg, PA.

We wish them Xronia Polla and remember them,
as they celebrate their Feastday today.
Beauty, simplicity, and peace, such a special place.

End of Summer

It's been a little busy, no excuses, I have been ignoring my little blog,
but clearly it hasn't been ignored by others.
Thanking all of you for still checking in on me here,
nothing has been wrong, just busy.

Some of the fun we had these past few weeks with family.
It is such a blessing when we are able to be together.
I love it so much.

We were treated to dinner, to celebrate many things together at once.
An eventful year.

Had the PVC pipe sprinkler out this summer, yes we made one!
Weather is starting to turn and it is time to put it away.

Quest Oversized Arm Chair - Dick's Sporting Goods

Sports have started, water bottles and portable folding chairs prepared.

Mini-marshmallow battle.
The food fight that memories are made of.
Big smiles all around.
Still finding them.

Which of course go along with the indoor smores.
Avoid the bugs and the rain.

Greek festival season continues.
It's always a beautiful night, to visit with friends and support a local parish.
Not to mention, super yummy!
Get out there folks.

Have started putting the garden to bed.
And have started spring bulb prepping.

Have also been working on some projects which will be ready to share with you soon.
What have you been up to?

Prayers for Peace in the World
